Obama’s Friend William Ayers and Obama’s Retaliation

Filed under: War, Wolves in Sheeps Clothing, Elections — admin @ 1:22 pm

Who you choose to be friends with says a lot about who you are. While John McCain was fighting for his country in the Vietnam War, William Ayers was trying to blow America up.

Have you ever been a friend or business associate of a terrorist? Not someone who, to your shock and horror, turned out secretly to have bombed government buildings. No, the question is whether you’ve ever befriended an unreconstructed radical whose past was well known to you when you entered his orbit and walked through doors he opened for you. Have you been chummy with an unapologetic terrorist who, years after you’d known and worked closely with him, was still telling the New York Times he regretted only failing to carry out more attacks — and that America still “makes me want to puke”?

Barack Obama has.

An organization called the American Issues Project, backed by Dallas investor Harold Simmons, is running a campaign ad which highlights Obama’s troubling relationship with William Ayers. Ayers is a former member of the Weathermen terrorist organization that bombed the Pentagon, the U.S. Capitol, various police headquarters, and other targets in the early 1970s.

The Obama campaign’s rejoinder is three-pronged: The first shot was an Obama response ad, which fails to offer any substantive explanation of why Obama maintains ties to Ayers. Obama’s second move was to launch a heavy-handed effort to pressure television stations into rejecting the ad by promising financial retaliation against the stations and their advertisers — which effort has apparently succeeded in intimidating Fox and CNN. The capper is a desperate call for the Justice Department to muzzle political speech through the prospect of a criminal investigation — a demand that provides a disturbing sneak peak into what life would be like under an Obama Justice Department.

These tactics that the Obama camp are using to silent dissent are extremely heavy-handed. Maybe I should have included this in my other post titled Barack “Trickster” Obama.

Iranian Cleric Blasts Ahmadinejad

Filed under: War — BigT @ 9:31 am

I thought that the Iranian people universally loved Ahmadinejad and thought what he is doing is just wonderful. Already knew this wasn’t true but this article just reinforces that notion.

“Ahmadinejad is not complying with the will of the people,” The Financial Times Deutschland quoted Grand Ayatollah Bajat Sanjani as saying. “This is a major threat, a big danger,” the cleric added in an unusually direct personal attack.

The newspaper also said Sanjani accused Ahmadinejad’s government of breaking the law, seriously violating personal freedom and illegally empowering the Revolutionary Guard.

Higher Oil Prices From Russia, With Love

Filed under: Economics, War — admin @ 8:03 pm

Just when you thought oil prices were going to go down and stay down for a little while a regional flare-up between Russia and Georgia has led to the price per barrel of oil rising about $10.

Oil roared above the $120 a barrel level on Thursday and gold prices jumped amid mounting geopolitical tensions following Russia’s decision to suspend military co-operation activities with Nato in response to a missile shield agreement between the US and Poland.

Nymex October West Texas Intermediate touched a session high of $122.04 before easing back to trade $5.62 higher at $121.18 a barrel while ICE October Brent rose $5.80 to $120.16 a barrel.

Where is oil headed for the rest of the year?

Market speculation has been rampant that Vladimir Putin, Russia’s prime minister, has been infuriated by the US and European response on Georgia and has ordered oil exports to be reduced. The Energy Information Administration repeated on Wednesday its forecast that oil prices would trade in a $120-$130 range for the rest of the year.

Putin and the Russians know that they play a big part in the world’s oil supply web. If they threaten war, nuclear war actually, that means the price of oil is going to jump and Russia is going to get a lot more money.
