Fred Thompson’s Final Push in Iowa

Filed under: Elections — admin @ 9:34 am

Here is Senator Thompson’s last push in Iowa via a YouTube video, a medium he has used better than any other republican during this campaign season.

Maybe it will work, maybe it won’t. It looks like he’s either going to finish third or fourth in Iowa according to Real Clear Politics. It’s too bad that he got into the race too late because he does seem to be the best conservative option we have and I personally pegged my hopes on him. Well, anyways, we’re going to find out soon enough who the real front runners are because the Iowa Caucuses are just a couple days away. BigT

  1. I agree that Thompson is the best conservative choice. He also seems to have the most consistency between what he says and how he governed.

As far as the polls go, I would encourage folks (especially caucus-goers in Iowa) to not pay too much attention to them. Remember in 2004 when Howard Dean was the odds-on favorite to win Iowa a few days before the caucus? He finished third (which of course led to his infamous scream and subsequent campaign tailspin). I firmly believe that many polls are designed to shape opinions, not reflect them. I don’t know if Iowans are interested in Fred Thompson or not, but I would hate to think that people would go vote for Romney or Huckabee simply because they want to vote for the winner.

All that to say, I encourge you to vote your mind, not based on the polls. I myself will vote for Fred Thompson in my state’s (Washington) primary, regardless of who the “front-runner” is, because I believe in the power of his ideas and I believe he means what he says.
