Liberals are Patriotic
The only problem is that they are global patriots. Liberals pride themselves on being more cosmopolitan than any of us boobs who are conservatives, who are blue collar, who are minorities, or who do not live in liberal enclaves like New York, LA, Washington, Oregon, Massachusetts, or any college town there is. Sure, they’ll take the votes of the poor and the minorities but they better not expect anything in return.
Liberals transcend contemporary politics and live in a world, literally, where there need be no violence, no economic freedom. Just peace and living through experiences. Hence the gaggle of “peace activists” who don’t know a thing about any topic when you ask them but they are considered to be “living life” with drugs, alcohol, sex, and the such. They can’t pinpoint America on the map but they can tell you where to score cat’s pee (crack cocaine).
They are very patriotic about their socialist nirvana where there are no nations or corporations. They have killed for their patriotism and will continue to kill until everyone agrees with them. Fidel, Hugo, Stalin, Lenin, Mao, Mugabe, and Osama all provide or have provided the means they need to achieve their end.
One Gaia where everyone loves each other and lives on for the day is their homeland no matter how imaginary it is right now. It doesn’t even matter if it is a possibility, it is still the place where their allegiance lies. Any attack on their imagined homeland brings out the type of jingoistic reaction they accuse us of.
Globalization isn’t the problem, per se, their problem is that their vision of a one-world socialist utopia is not the model for globalization. When corporations or the United States expands their influence the patriotic liberal rallies and marches under the guise of environmentalism, anti-globalization, and whatever the cause de jur is of that day. In reality they are marching to show their patriotism for that imagined Heaven on Earth that is their socialist dream. BigT
